This week over 100 Liverpool children have experienced top flight football coaching with the Steven Gerrard Foundation in association with Hugh McAuley Football Academy. Tornado have supported the annual football camp since 2012 making 2016 the fifth consecutive year. The football camp gives local children access to top level coaching from legendary football coaches.

Each year sports leaders, teachers, youth centres and other public organisations hand pick 100 children from a variety of different backgrounds to come together and share their love of football. The four day camp, for children between the ages of 8 and 12, is held at The Lord Derby Academy in Huyton, hosted by Knowsley sports facility provider Volair, with the training provided by Hugh McAuley Football Academy coaches.

At the end of the week the families get to celebrate the achievements of their sons and daughters who attended the camp and receive certificates, medals and special recognition awards for their efforts. This year a special video message from Steven Gerrard, direct from LA was played out during the awards presentation. The Tornado team donate certificates and other printed items that add an important element to the children’s experience. Tornado Managing Director Keith Paterson commented:

We’re really happy to be able to support the Steven Gerrard Foundation and Hugh McAuley for the fifth year. As a kid growing up in Liverpool I really benefited from camps like this, and know the importance it brings to the children for health, social skills, discipline and confidence. I love seeing how much the kids get from the annual football camp and how much they enjoy it. I’m really proud that Tornado can be involved.

Tornado are one of several local businesses that made a contribution this year. From Hugh McAuley providing the coaches, Volair providing the facilities and AGX Signs and Graphics providing the backdrops for the presentation photos. The hope of all the companies involved is that their help will inspire local Liverpool children by making them feel, for four days a year, like a Premier League Star.
